Situated in the very heart of Amsterdam, this year Gallery Vassie celebrates it's 10th anniversary. The gallery was established by British photography historian & curator Addie Vassie, previously of both The Victoria & Albert Museum and The Photographers' Gallery in London, she also ran a photography gallery in London's Notting Hill for a number of years.
The gallery's formula offers an exciting exhibition programme alongside a print room-style set-up, where experts, collectors and enthusiasts can visit the collection by appointment, or spontaneously on a Saturday.
Gallery Vassie exhibits and represents both well-known, established artists from the late 19th and 20th centuries, and also represents a diverse stable of contemporary photographers. Carrying many early vintage pieces in their collection, from the likes of Jacques Henri Lartigue, Norman Parkinson & Brian Duffy, alongside modern and contemporary works of for example, Michelle Sank, Henry Horenstein, Antoni & Alison as well as unique, one-off pieces by Christopher Bucklow. The ongoing philosophy of Gallery Vassie is to continue introducing a diversity of renowned, critically acclaimed photographers alongside lesser-known gems from the international photography community to the Netherlands.
